There was another Nintendo Direct this week, and some cool things were announced, like the new Super Mario film. Galaxy this time!
But for me, the best news was the announcement of Pokemon Pokopia, the very first life simulator starring Pokemon.
A cosy Pokemon game!? How cool is that!
Pokemon x Minecraft x Animal Crossing?
The trailer has a bit of a Smile vibe, because Ditto turns into a creepy human, and with the help of other Pokemon you then start shaping your island. You can use Bulbasaur to grow plants, for example, and then give them enough water with Squirtle.
Oh, and you also have to collect resources.
Does that sound a little familiar?
A life sim like this on Switch obviously immediately makes you think of Animal Crossing, a game I absolutely destroyed during the COVID pandemic. I really love those cosy games. There is a reason Stardew Valley is one of my favourite games of all time.
Coincidentally, Pokemon is also one of my favourite things, so this is basically a golden combination, right?
This Is Why I Want A Switch 2
Yes, and now the less fun news: Pokemon Pokopia is only coming to Switch 2.
No problem. Then we will just get one, right?
I just stole a Switch Lite, but I always knew a Switch 2 would come eventually. The console looks really cool to me, but until now there simply were not any titles I really needed one for.
The new Mario Kart will undoubtedly be a party, but it is not really my game. Donkey Kong: Bananza looks very fun, but it is not a must-play for me. And then, well, that is kind of it.
Until now.
Even though we have to wait until somewhere in 2026, Pokemon Pokopia is the title that will make me buy a Switch 2.
I cannot wait.
