I try to write a weekly newsletter about TV shows and films under the name Seriekoning. Last week I wrote about the ten best shows everyone should have seen.
This is an old blog. My newsletter sadly no longer exists.
“This show would absolutely be in my top ten best shows ever!” I blurted out while trying to convince my girlfriend to finally watch Band of Brothers with me.
“Oh yeah? And what else is in that list?” she replied.
And tada! Another fun idea for the newsletter.
I closed that newsletter with ten shows I think everyone should have seen. I call it my top ten, but they are in random order because I find it impossible to say which one is truly the best.
You simply have to watch them all.
- Band of Brothers - This Second World War series is unbelievably good and hits me every time I rewatch it. On HBO Max, and recently also on Disney+.
- Breaking Bad - What would you do if you found out you were terminally ill and wanted to earn some money? This question is answered perfectly in this series. On Netflix.
- Game of Thrones - The show that kept the world busy and whose ending caused plenty of debate. Even if you do not care about fantasy, this series has enough to be considered mandatory viewing.
- Friends - The most perfect comedy series ever. I do not need to say anything else.
- The Shield - A very raw series about corrupt cops in L.A. From the creators of Sons of Anarchy, but three times better.
- Prison Break - This is where my TV addiction started. The first two seasons are incredibly tense.
- One Tree Hill - Combine sports, music and drama, and you have won me over.
- The Office (US) - I put this show off for a long time, but now I rewatch it every year. Almost as good as Friends.
- House - A hospital series about a brilliant but incredibly blunt doctor. I love characters like that.
- Orange is the New Black - One of the first popular Netflix Originals ever. About a women’s prison and everything that comes with it. Must see.
